Travel Sketching on the Road to Rajasthan 2021
A collaboration with Creative Arts Safaris
The journey is fully escorted by Fiona and Praveen of Creative Arts Safaris, collecting you from the airport and looking after you until it is time to drop you back for your flight home. Included is tuition, entry fees, most meals and all accommodation and transport, you just need to pack your journal and come join us. Through Fiona and Praveen’s many years experience in Rajasthan we go off the tourist trail to experience locations, activities and food that only a local can.
Our journey will take us from Delhi out to the Shekhawati Region of Rajasthan, an area well known for its painted houses, what- better place to start than seeing a local approach to painting? After that we’ll take in a mighty Fort, beautiful lake and Palace and near Jaipur, visit elephants, retired from work they live in a sanctuary and welcome visitors to give them a wash or sit and draw them.
Throughout the journey time is put aside to work with me on your journals and new approaches you might like to try.
Something to think about…John Ruskin pointed out the importance of sketching when travelling is not to become a great artist rather it is about taking the time to look and really observe, really notice where you are.

The partnership that is Creative Arts Safaris grew out of the creative interests of Fiona Wright and the professional experience of Kanhaya Lal [Praveen Nayak to his mates].
Their travel agency is built on Praveen’s 20 years of experience in the business. Their Indian Adventure Tours and Travel opened in New Delhi in 2004 and Creative Arts Safaris followed soon after.
Fiona and Praveen share a farm house near Pushkar, India from where they run The Stitching Project – a textile production project to create beautiful textile products and as much Fair Paid Local work as they can, their excuse to run away is to lead a Creative Arts Safari these days!
